Dougall, Tomas

H 8167 Thomas Dougall was born 19 February 1923 at St. Boniface, Manitoba and joined the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in the field as a Lieutenant 26 May 1944. He fought with the Regiment in Italy but was Struck Off Strength from 25 December 1944 until 01 April 1945. He then served with the Regiment in Holland until being Struck Off Strength again, this time to the 4th Royal Winnipeg Regiment 22 June 1945. Tom was a volunteer at the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Regimental Museum from 1990 until he passed away 10 June 2000 at the age of 77.

Smith, T. W.

Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, 13 June 1942, T. W. Smith worked as a laborer and apprentice carpenter prior to joining the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry 10 January 1962. After completing basic training in Edmonton in June 1962 he was assigned to the Second Battalion. He completed his Jump Course (#364) in Rivers and Shilo, Manitoba in 1963 and was employed in A Company (Jump Company). Later that year he requested a transfer to the First Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in Victoria, British Columbia and went with the Battalion to Germany in November 1963 as part of RECCE (Reconnaissance) Platoon. Returning with the Battalion to Canada in 1966, Smith was promoted to Lance Corporal and was posted to Edmonton where he remained with RECCE Platoon and took part in the Franklin Expedition Exercise in 1967. In 1968 Corporal Smith completed a 6 month United Nations peacekeeping tour of Cyprus with the First Battalion, RECCE Platoon and was stationed at "Sammy House" in Kyrena. While in Cyprus Corporal Smith received a transfer to the Airborne Regiment and served with 2 Commando in Edmonton for the next 6 years. While with the Airborne, Smith was promoted to Lance Corporal and then Sergeant serving in a rifle company and Anti-tank and RECCE Platoons. On completion of his Para Instructor's course in 1974 Sergeant Smith was posted to the Canadian Airborne Training Centre as a Para Instructor until 1978 when he was promoted to Warrant Officer and transferred back to the First Battalion in Calgary, Alberta. From 1978 until his retirement in 1982 Warrant Officer Smith was employed with 9 Platoon, C Company as a Platoon Sergeant and Platton Commander as well as an assistant to the Brigade Regimental Sergeant Major. During his career he took qualifying courses in mortars, signals, small arms, surveillance, mountain warfare, jungle warfare and winter warfare to name a few. Since retiring from the military Warrant Smith has worked in construction and as a shipper/ receiver in Alberta before moving back to Cape Breton in 1984. In Cape Breton he was employed with the Department of Fisheries until his retirement in January 2003.

MacDonald, Scott

Captain Scott MacDonald, Second Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry was the Team Captain during the UNFICYP Swimming Championships was held at Blue Beret Camp pool, Cyprus, August 1990. The CANCON team won the overall trophy. He worked at the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Regimental Museum from 1997-1999 when he was seconded to the Calgary Highlanders.
