Francis George Young, 1887- , was a carpenter by trade. He immigrated to Canada as a young man and was among the first to join Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in August 1914 (regimental number 196). Promoted to Lance sergeant, he was wounded on 4 May 1915 during the Second Battle of Ypres as the Regiment prepared to occupy uncompleted trenches at Bellaewarde Ridge. He was wounded again on 29 June 1916 at Sanctuary Wood and was subsequently Struck Off Strength on 1 August 1916. He returned to England after the war and was living in London in 1954.
