Carvosso, James

51116 James Husband Carvosso was born 19 June 1891 in Dartford, Kent, England and immigrated to Canada in 1910. He enlisted as a Private with the 23rd Battalion 3 November 1914 and joined the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in the field 1 March 1915. He rose in rank quickly due to prior officer training and was commissioned as a Lieutenant 16 October 1916 (eventually making Acting Captain). He was wounded 5 times before being accidentally injured 14 April 1918. He served with the Regiment through the remainder of the First World War and was Struck Off Strength 20 March 1919. He received the Military Cross for his actions at Vimy Ridge and the Bar to the MC for actions during the Final Advance to Mons. Following the War he remained with the Regiment, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before he retired in 1942. Lieutenant Colonel Carvosso passed away 10 April 1977.

Reid, James M.

TG76495 Jamie Reid was born in Norton, New Brunswick in 1929. He was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Canadian Army in 1950 and was posted to the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry the same year for service with the Canadian Army Special Force in Korea. He joined the Second Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in the field in May 1951 and later also served with the First Battalion in Korea 1951-1952. Promoted to Captain in 1957 he served in various postings including Commanding Officer and Chief Instructor of the Canadian Joint Army Training Centre at Rivers Manitoba, 1963-1965. Promoted to Major in 1965 he was a Company Commander with the First Battalion in Cyprus, 1968 and Military Observer with the United Nations in Israel, 1976-1977. Jamie Reid retired to New Brunswick in 1977 and was elected as the first President of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, Atlantic Branch in 1980.

MacGowan, Alfred James

Alfred James MacGowan #489785 was born in Coleraine, County Derry, Northern Ireland on 19 November 1885. He immigrated to Canada in 1912 and was employed as a teacher and principle of Macleod Public Schools until enlistment in 1916. He enlisted April 11, 1916 with the Princess Patricia' Canadian Light Infantry and was promoted to Corporal. He was discharged April 8, 1918, "Being medically unfit for further war service". Died 6 January 1959.
