Young (family)

145762 James Harris Young was born in Whitney, Ontario and raised in Renfrew, Ontario. He was a member of the Lanark and Renfrew Highland Pipe Band before going overseas in 1916. He was with the 77th Battalion, railway troops, in France in March 1917 when he was sent down the line for being underage. Spent two months in 1st Army Infantry School before joining the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry 18 March 1918. He was wounded 12 August 1918 and three other times before he was Struck Off Strength 7 February 1919. He was awarded the Military Medal 3 July 1919 for rushing a machine gun post at the Canal Du Nord 30 September 1918. He passed away 16 August 1968.

Johnston, William

552 William Gavin Johnston was a member of the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles during the Boer War and joined the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry as a Private in August 1914. He was promoted to Sergeant and was awarded the Military Medal 9 December 1916 for his actions at the Somme in September 1916. Commissioned as a Lieutenant 9 March 1917 he was Struck Off Strength 16 July 1918.

Fraser, William

524933 William Fraser was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, 23 July 1897 and was a farmer in Kootenay Bay, British Columbia prior to enlisting with the Army Medical Corps Training Depot 11 August 1916. He was with the 9th Field Ambulance, 3rd Canadian Division at Vimy Ridge where he served as a stretcher bearer for the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, 9-10 April 1917.
