P22278 C.S. "Stafford" Shawcross joined Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in 1937 or 1938 and trained in Winnipeg and Shilo, Manitoba. He was a Bandsman and attained the rank of Sergeant, but left the regiment in November 1939 to attend military college in Victoria, B.C. He was a Lieutenant and later a Major with the Third Battalion PPCLI in Korea in 1952-1953. He died in October 1987 in Victoria.
Scope and content
The fonds includes photographs documenting C.S. Shawcross's experiences with the 3rd Battalion of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in Korea, and prior to his deployment. Includes images 3PPCLI's voyage to Korea, Korean landscapes, life in the PPCLI camp. Includes identified images of Capt. Gordon Seller, Herb Pitts, Peter Worthington, Jock Mackie, Prest, "Scoachy" Lee, CQMS E.P. "Boy" Shaw, New Brunswick Hospital, broom-i-loo, The Hook. Also includes 7 images of Shawcross, ca. 1940-1952, from the PPCLI Archives collections.
