51116 James Husband Carvosso was born 19 June 1891 in Dartford, Kent, England and immigrated to Canada in 1910. He enlisted as a Private with the 23rd Battalion 3 November 1914 and joined the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in the field 1 March 1915. He rose in rank quickly due to prior officer training and was commissioned as a Lieutenant 16 October 1916 (eventually making Acting Captain). He was wounded 5 times before being accidentally injured 14 April 1918. He served with the Regiment through the remainder of the First World War and was Struck Off Strength 20 March 1919. He received the Military Cross for his actions at Vimy Ridge and the Bar to the MC for actions during the Final Advance to Mons. Following the War he remained with the Regiment, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before he retired in 1942. Lieutenant Colonel Carvosso passed away 10 April 1977.
