History

1765 John Crawford was born in 1883 in London, England. Prior to joining the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry 25 August 1914 he served with the Coldstream Guards and worked as an upholsterer. He was promoted to Sergeant and then Company Sergeant Major. He served through out the First War with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and was Struck Off Strength 20 March 1919. He was awarded the Military medal and bar. Following the First War, John Crawford joined the Permanent Force and eventually rose to the rank of Captain in charge of staff members of the 4th Division Officer and Non Commissioned Officer School.
