Biographical history
Gary D. Hunt enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1953. He was commissioned, and by 1958 he was a Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (1PPCLI). By 1968 he was a Major, and was commander of No. 4 Guard of 1PPCLI in peacekeeping operations in Cyprus. He was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel, and served in a number of staff positions in the Canadian Armed Forces. He was living in retirement in Canmore, Alberta, ca. 2000-ca. 2003.

Scope and content
The first 3 pages of the album contain photographs and a newsclipping on winter training in Camp Dundurn, Saskatchewan. The remainder of the album documents 1PPCLI's 1971 rotation as part of the United Nations peacekeeping force in Cyprus. Consists mostly of Canadian Armed Forces photographs of soldiers on patrol, interacting with other peacekeeping forces, in ceremonial events, in athletic contests, and in recreational activities. Includes a pamphlet: 1 PPCLI : a guide for Canadian Forces personnel on duty with the United Nations in Cyprus, Apr-Sep 1971. Includes a map of Cyprus. Includes a program: Canada Day, 1 July 1971, Cyprus : a feu de joie on Canada's national day by First Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, United Nations Force Cyprus.
