Conrad Stephens fonds

The fonds consists of Conrad Stephens' memorabilia from the Dumbells, the musical and comedy troupe formed by the 3rd Canadian Division during the First World War which amalgamated with the PPCLI Comedy Company. After the War the troupe continued to tour Canada and the United States until 1929. Consists predominantly of publicity photos and portraits of the performers, many of them autographed. Includes a portrait of Stephens in his wartime uniform, a portrait of him as a veteran in the 1950s, and newsclippings about a reunion concert of the PPCLI Comedy Company mounted in 1955.

Also included are small maps of key battles fought by the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in Sicily and Italy in World War Two and photocopies from the scrapbook of Donald Munro 1943-1945 depicting the activities of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry during the War. The photographs depict War Graves Commission cemeteries in Sicily and Italy and military members and students on the pilgrimage.

Highlights include the visit of Lord Byng, 1922, the 8 May 1932 Trooping, the visit of King George and Queen Elizabeth, 1939, training in Canada and the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in England, Italy, France and Holland during the Second World War. Also included are 98 photographs and 19 negatives of Edward Higham's service with the Second Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in Korea, 1950-1951 and various documents relating to service in Korea and with the Reserves. Included is a scrapbook possibly collected by Craftsman Higham's parents in Manitoba, documenting activities of 2PPCLI in Korea.
